STEMinist Spotlight Week 2 - Ashley Hochberg

Hello readers! In honor of March being Women's History Month, I wanted to take a moment each week and highlight a female in my network that embodies leadership, creativity, collaboration, and strength in the STEM industry.

The second spotlight I am eager to share with you all is a peer I connected with through the OSU Young Alumni Academy, Ashley Hochburg. Ashley is a Senior IT Manager of Data Governance at Procter and Gamble, located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Take a moment to read Ashley's story and connect with her professionally!

Tell me a little bit about what you do!

My role is to develop and implement Data Governance policies for the P&G Core Data Lake. This means that I work with Data Asset Managers to understand how data can be utilized properly by others in the company to drive business outcomes.

What's your education background?

I received my B.S. in Computer Science & Engineering from Ohio State. I earned my M.S. in Business Analytics from Indiana University, which I completed online part-time while working.

How did you got interested in your industry?

I love the field of Computer Science because it can be applied to any industry. I always wanted to work for a company that produced a product other than just software, and the Consumer Goods industry is rewarding because I am both an employee of the company and a consumer of the products.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

I am the most proud of seeing those that I’ve mentored go on to mentor others as they grow in their own careers.

Real Talk - What is something you wish you could tell your 13 year old self?

Very few decisions in life are truly permanent, so don’t worry so much about always making the perfect choice! It’s 100% OK to change your mind later if something doesn’t turn out the way you expected.

Finally...what do you like to do outside of work?

I love exploring new places locally – whether it be trying different local restaurants or just taking a walk in a new park or neighborhood. I can’t wait to be able to travel again and explore different cultures globally!
